Q. What does Leadership Prince George’s do?

A. Generally, the mission of LPG is to support leaders who live and/or work in Prince George’s County improve their leadership skills, expand their professional networks, and positively impact the residents of Prince George’s County.  This is done through an extensive Leadership Program, service projects, and learning opportunities. ]

Q. What does it mean to be a Graduate or Member of LPG? Or What is the Difference between LPG Graduate and LPB Member

A. Leadership Prince George’s graduates have successfully completed the LPG Leadership Program. LPG members have successfully completed the LPG Leadership Program and have paid their membership dues.

Q.  How much are the membership dues, [and what do they cover]?

A. LPG’s annual membership dues for Graduates are $200 a year for Basic Membership or $1000 for the Leadership Circle.  The Membership period begins July 1st and runs through June 30th of each year.  [, renewable each summer.] You may renew your membership(link to renewal) on line. Membership(link to Membership benefits page) allows you to participate in committee work and vote in the annual election, includes tickets to events throughout the year, and gives you access to members-only information.

Q.   How do I join Leadership Prince George’s? or What is the LPG Signature Program or What is the Process for Applying for the Signature Leadership Development Program?

A. All interested participants must compete for a position in the 10-month Leadership Program, and if selected must successfully complete the program.  Upon completion, all graduates are eligible for membership in the organization and maintain active membership by paying annual dues and participating in LPG activities.  Applications for the Leadership Program are accepted in the spring of each year and applicants are notified of acceptance by July 31; the program begins in September. The application(link to application) is available on line, and must be submitted by the stated deadline. Participation is open to leaders 25 years of age and older. LPG seeks participants of diverse ages, genders, ethnic backgrounds, professional experiences, and interests.

Q. What is the time commitment for the  LPG Signature Leadership Development Program  (Signature Program)?

A. Leadership Program participants must commit to a three-day opening residential Retreat In September; a full program day each month from October through May; and, a three-day closing residential retreat in June. All class participants are allowed 12 hours of missed class time but are strongly encouraged to attend ALL sessions. Both residential retreats are REQUIRED.  Need to Discuss

Q.  How much does it cost to join Leadership Prince George’s? or How Much Does it Cost to Participate in the Signature Program for the 2015 – 2016 Program Year

A.  Tuition for the  2015 - 2016Signature Program [Leadership Program] is [currently] $4,000 per person, which includes the membership fee for 2016-2017.  [You will find the cost less than or equal to other leadership programs in the area].

Q. How long has Leadership Prince George’s existed and how did the organization begin?

A. Leadership Prince George’s was founded in 1985 by Dr. William A. Welch, former director of the Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission.  Originally a part of the County government, Leadership Prince George’s is now an independent membership 501(c)3 organization. A. Leadership Prince George’s welcomes sponsorships that support our programs and activities, and we collaborate with a number of organizations within the community. In return, our sponsors and collaborators receive great visibility and connections to our graduates and members through the relationship with LPG.
