  1. Spring Cleaning

The Spring Cleaning Initiative is designed to encourage healthy lifestyles among LPG graduates.  The program, which kicks off on the first day of Spring, provides LPG graduates with information, activities, and incentives to engage in healthy eating and exercise, and to schedule regular checkups.

  1. Service Counts

Service Counts is an LPG initiative to encourage and capture volunteer activities among LPG graduates, as well as leverage our volunteer efforts through greater collaboration among individuals and organizations.

  1. Christmas in April

LPG has long supported the Christmas in April initiative in Prince George’s County, with members volunteering to work at designated sites throughout the County. This support includes helping to clean up, repair, and upgrade housing in support of families and individuals in the community.

  1. Teddy Bear Celebration

The Holiday Teddy Bear Celebration brings together program graduates, current class members and Board members to make connections and foster goodwill and partnerships while celebrating the holidays. Teddy Bears are collected in collaboration with the Office of the Sheriff, to be given to children needing cheering up throughout the year.  The stuffed bears are distributed by sheriff’s deputies to children who are victims of crime, who witness difficult situations, or who are at the scene of domestic violence incidents.  Children in households experiencing domestic violence can suffer in many ways, and receipt of a teddy bear from a sheriff’s deputy can provide comfort during a time of trauma or turmoil. 

  1. Trot for a Turkey

LPG sponsors M-NCPPC’s Trot for a Turkey event at Watkins Regional Park as part of the Winter Festival of Lights kickoff each November.  LPG members who register to walk or run through the lighted park alongside community participants receive a commemorative shirt, and all fees are used to purchase holiday turkeys for families in need.
